Concert diary on Instagram:
I Travel For Metal

Encouraged by a fellow metalhead and journalist friend, I started a new Instagram account in late August 2023 soley dedicated to my concert travel and love of music.

After a press event at the German Embassy in Tokyo a few weeks ago, a journalist friend said to me: „You obviously put in so much time and effort into writing your concert posts – you should really have more followers. Why don’t you start a separate Instagram account?“ I was surprised. „Why would anyone who does not know me want to read that??“ He said: „You know what metalheads are like.“

He had a point there. And so after a lot of deliberation about how to combine the fact that unlike most concertgoers I have attended gigs across four continents so far – most of the time in Asia and Europe though – with my passion for music in general and metal in particular, I settled on I Travel For Metal.

I am moving all my concert-related posts from my regular personal account, which I started in August 2018, and which mostly covers my work and my life in Japan, to the new account now, with the exception of live streams. Otherwise it’s just getting too much. The first concert-related post was actually Nine Inch Nails at Summer Sonic festival in Tokyo in 2018.
